Bhutan for Life

One of the first Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) programs in Asia. Bhutan for Life is a  legal entity established under the auspices of Royal Charter granted by His Majesty the King on 27th July 2018 to support the achievement of robust network of Protected Areas (PA) that contributes to biodiversity conservation, human-well-being, and increases Bhutan’s resilience to the effects of climate change by providing long-term financing.

People of Bhutan preserve and enhance their natural heritage to benefit the country and the planet for posterity

Ensure a robust network of protected areas and biological corridors in Bhutan (representing more than 51% of the country) that contributes to human well-being and biodiversity conservation, and increases Bhutan’s resilience to the effects of climate change.

A robust network of protected areas is envisaged to be:

  • a sanctuary for the diversity and persistence of life
  • a provider of sustainable, resilient ecosystem goods and services
  • a reservoir for carbon and adaptation to climate change
  • a source of economic opportunity and community well-being
  • an exemplar of effective management and efficient services.
