Every Fairytale Needs a Hero

When it comes to BFL, we are fortunate to have many of them as our funders.

Bedari Foundation, Jeffrey Boal: PlowShare Group, Inc and Philipp Family Foundation, provided initial preparation funding support, alongside WWF, in 2014.

With their generous support, we are close to our goal of raising USD $43.1 million to create the transition fund. This funding will be combined with USD $75 million from the Bhutan government, which will be contributed over a 14-year period.

The fundraising efforts for BFL are led by the Royal Government of Bhutan and World Wildlife Fund.

Public sector funders include the Green Climate Fund (the largest contributor to BFL) and the Global Environment Facility (whose early and sustained investments helped build a foundation for BFL).

Your support for BFL is more than just a financial investment. It’s a legacy for a lifetime—and beyond. It’s an investment that can protect thousands of species; save more than 2 million hectares of pristine forests and rivers; help thousands of people earn a living for themselves and their families; help provide fresh drinking water to one-fifth of the world; help keep all of Earth’s population better buffered from climate change; and ensure one of the most remarkable living conservation fairy tales continues to be a reality. Not just today, but forever.
